As a makeup artist and fashion addict I mean it when I say inspiration for a makeup look or ootd can literally come from anywhere and anything. Since its release I have been playing Chris Brown’s recent album ‘Heartbreak on a full moon’ on repeat and I’ve always been a huge fan of everything he’s done.
‘Everybody knows’ I’m definitely the creative type of person and so for me it wasn’t ‘even’ just the music that caught my attention with the album. I thought the albums cover was really artistic and interesting so me being me started to ask myself ‘questions’ about if it was possible to create similar art ‘on me.’
Using an album cover’s art to create makeup art is something I’d never even considered doing till I saw this but I decided to switch up the ‘tempo’ a bit and try something new.
Admittedly, it didn’t take me long to get the creative juices flowing and figure out how I was going to work the design and include different parts of the cover in the makeup to create this finishing look.
I decided to take the black background of the cover with the pink of the moon and create my eyes using those colours. I went for a halo eye makeup design to almost represent the moon in the centre of the night sky just like the albums cover. However, we all know ‘this ain’t’ gonna be any makeup look of mine without a little sparkle! So, I added a sprinkle of glitter across the pink colour on my lid to replicate the stars and the moons iridescent glow.
Now onto the lips. No look is complete without a good lipstick and with this look it was definitely the most important part in helping the look to resemble Brown’s album cover.
The album’s heart is the centre of attention and with the drip effect being a really artistic contribution to the cover I really wanted to find a way to include it without either making the look appear messy or horror like and I didn’t want to just take the colour red and implement it into the look. So I recreated the creative drip effect on my lips simply using liquid lipstick and plumping gloss. I was relatively pleased with it’s outcome although I will admit using plumping gloss meant my lips were numb for the next half hour or so!
All in all, I think the look came out well and it was something new that I actually really enjoyed getting creative with and it’s something I’d like to continue experimenting with so ‘tell me what to do’ and give me your favourite album covers and suggestions for me to experiment with. If ‘you like’ and you’ve got some artistic ‘confidence’ and flair why don’t you try a similar thing and share them with me over on my Instagram (rosiedotmay) and keep your eyes open for my new creations. I for one ‘hope you do’ give it a go!
A bonus is you can create the exact same look without dragging the gloss on your lips down and you’ve got a fab colourful yet wearable full face makeup look.
